OBJECTIVES

The Association has been established to: Promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the greater Edenderry area and its environs without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will do so by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants.

Edenderry Community Development Association will facilitate the greater involvement of marginalised sections of the wider community, all genders, age groups, the disabled and ethnic minorities in the life of the community. Promote awareness of the history, folklore and cultural heritage of the area Encourage acceptance, understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the area of benefit promote, by education and encounter, good community relations with other groups and cultural traditions and interact with same in a spirit of peace and Community reconciliation.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Association shall be open to all persons aged sixteen years or over, who subscribe to the objects of the Association and who live within the area of benefit, irrespective of their sex or sexual orientation race, political affiliation, nationality or religious persuasion who share the objects of the Association and make an annual membership subscription to it. Membership is also open to well-wishers from other than the area of benefit, or other persons who have special knowledge or experience to offer to the Association.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The first Annual General Meeting of the Association was held in April 2005 and not later than 30th April thereafter.
